Dafne Zapata Quintos, a 13-year-old teenager, died on July 17 while she was at a summer camp at the Doenitz Marine Militarized Academy, located in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas. His mother, Alejandra Quintos, reported alleged irregularities surrounding his death and demands that the authorities clarify what happened within the institution.

According to the story of the minor's mother, that day she received a call in which she was informed that Dafne had become ill during her stay at the academy. Shortly after, they were notified that the minor had died, a situation that raised questions about the circumstances of the death.

After going to identify the body, the teenager's mother, Alejandra Quintos, and her grandmother, Laura Martínez, indicated that they observed visible injuries and asked that all necessary investigations be carried out to determine what happened.

Dafne's family reports injuries and requests an investigation

In an interview with Facts AM of Azteca Noticias, the family stated that the minor had bruises and other marks that, from their perspective, have not been sufficiently explained.

Among the allegations made by his relatives are blows to the nose, displacement of brackets, an injury to the lip, bruises on the chin and marks on the forehead.

The family also mentioned having observed secretions in the nose, ears and mouth, although these elements must be determined through the corresponding expert studies.

Alejandra Quintos assured that Dafne was a victim of violence before she died and asked that the authorities thoroughly investigate the case. He also reported that his relatives have received threats while they search for answers. The minor's mother requests that the case be investigated as femicide.

Death certificate indicates homicide; there are no detainees

Dafne's mother spread an alleged Electronic Death Certificate on social networks, in which the teenager's death is registered as a homicide and indicates asphyxiation due to submersion as the clinical cause.

So far, the Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office has not reported on any people detained related to the death of the minor.

The authorities are keeping the investigation open to establish how the events occurred and determine if there was any person's participation or responsibilities.

The family reported that they will go to review the results of the autopsy and other forensic analyzes to obtain greater clarity about the case.

The Doenitz Academy was under investigation after the death of the minor

The tragedy occurred within the Marina Doenitz Militarized Academy, an institution located in Ciudad Madero that offers primary, secondary and high school education, as well as summer camps under a militarized training scheme.

Daphne had entered one of these camps a few days before her death. According to publicly disseminated information, the program lasted approximately three weeks as a boarding school and could cost up to 25 thousand Mexican pesos (about $1,438 dollars).

After the death of the teenager, the facilities were secured by authorities while the proceedings continue.

The government of Tamaulipas reported that the academy is registered with the state Secretary of Education; However, he clarified that he does not have authorization from the Secretary of the Navy despite the use of that term in his name.

Former students report alleged abuse within the academy

After Dafne's death became known, students and former students began to share testimonies about alleged acts of violence within the institution.

The stories spread include allegations of extreme punishments, isolation, attacks between students and alleged cases of harassment that, according to some testimonies, had not received attention from those in charge of the campus.

Some young people also reported alleged violent practices during training and internal activities.

According to Alejandra Quintos, several minors are willing to testify before the Public Ministry, with the authorization of their parents, about alleged events that occurred within the academy. So far, the Prosecutor's Office has not officially reported on this situation.
