A legislative proposal from congressmen will be presented this Thursday to require that all immigrants held in detention centers of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) receive a medical evaluation and treatment upon entering the facilities.
The initiative arises after complaints from relatives of detained immigrants, such as the case of Carlitos Ricardo Parias, who has not received medical attention at the ICE Processing Center in Adelanto, California, despite suffering a wound to his left arm from a bullet fired by federal agents.
Lawmakers will introduce the bill in the U.S. House of Representatives after complaints they received from immigrants in custody who allege they did not receive medical treatment from the federal agency.
