The US Army denied this Thursday that Iran had destroyed three of its F-35 fighter planes in an attack on an air base in Jordan, and that an oil tanker had violated the naval blockade of Iranian ports, as reported by media in the Islamic Republic.
The Central Command of the United States Army (Centcom) described as false the information from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), which claimed that its Aerospace Force attacked with ballistic missiles "the deployment platform and maintenance hangar of the American F-35 fighters at the Al-Azraq air base."
"No American aircraft was destroyed or damaged in the recent Iranian attack attempts. All missiles and drones were intercepted or failed to reach the target areas," said the military organization, based in Florida, on its social networks.
The Jordanian Army announced hours earlier, this Thursday, that it had intercepted and shot down five missiles launched against its territory and accused Iran of the attack, although it stated that it “failed” and caused no casualties.
The event reflects the rescaling of the conflict, as Centcom completed a new wave of attacks against Iran on Wednesday in which it hit dozens of military targets, in response to an attempted missile launch against US troops deployed in the Middle East.
On the other hand, the US Central Command denied state media reports that a commercial oil tanker, the M/T Nora, “has broken the US blockade” ordered by President Donald Trump in retaliation for Iran's attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
"The commercial ship has not crossed the steel wall of the US blockade. More than 20 US warships, hundreds of aircraft and thousands of military personnel remain vigilant and continue to fully enforce the blockade," said the agency, based in Florida.
Regarding transit in the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of global crude oil passed before the conflict, Centcom noted that “the immediate dangers posed to commercial ships and their civilian crews are verbal threats and attempted attacks by the IRGC itself.”
The attacks between Washington and Tehran continue despite the fact that Trump suspended them over the weekend due to new rapprochements with the Islamic Republic in search of reaching a new peace agreement after the failure of the memorandum of understanding signed in June, while the conflict approaches five months.
