ICE arrested an undocumented immigrant with ‘No Name Given’ on his NY driver’s license
ICE arrested an undocumented immigrant who had a New York commercial driver's license
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Friday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an undocumented immigrant whose New York commercial driver’s license said “No Name.”
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol encountered the immigrant, Anmol Anmol, on the road during a routine inspection.
ICE intervened, and it was revealed that the driver was in the United States illegally. The state of New York issued him a license that said “No Name, Anmol.”
Background checks conducted by ICE revealed that Anmol is an undocumented immigrant from India. ICE arrested him and began removal proceedings against him.
DHS said Anmol entered the United States illegally in 2023.
“Allowing undocumented aliens to obtain commercial driver’s licenses to operate 18-wheelers and transport hazardous materials on American highways is reckless and incredibly dangerous to public safety,” DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
“Thanks to the successful collaboration between ICE and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Anmol no longer poses a threat to drivers,” the statement continued.
McLaughlin criticized New York state for issuing Anmol a license.
“Not only does New York fail to verify whether 18-wheeler applicants are U.S. citizens, they don’t even obtain the full legal names of the individuals they issue commercial driver’s licenses to,” she said. “DHS is working with our state and local partners to remove undocumented truck drivers, who are often ignorant of basic traffic laws, from our roads.”
One of the Trump administration’s top priorities has been mass deportations and immigration enforcement.
On September 23,The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that 2 million illegal aliens have been removed or self-deported since January 20.
