The Israeli Army killed at least 18 Palestinians and injured dozens in the Gaza Strip this Sunday, after a significant increase in the number of attacks despite the truce that supposedly has been in force in the Palestinian enclave since October 2025.
Israeli warplanes bombed Gaza City, Deir al-Balah and the southern region around Khan Yunis. Among the deceased were two married couples and two children, according to medical authorities. According to Palestinian figures, the death toll of 15 in a single day was the highest in weeks.
Attacks despite the agreement announced by Trump
However, Israel's Energy Minister Eli Cohen (also a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet) expressed skepticism on Sunday. Israel would give Hamas the opportunity to disarm, but it seriously doubted that this would happen, Cohen told Israel Army Radio. Yesterday, the Minister of Defense was much harsher in his statements against the agreement.
A Hamas leader among the dead, but also a pregnant woman
In one of the attacks this Sunday, Israel killed a father, his 3-year-old daughter and his wife, who was 6 months pregnant, according to a source from Shifa Hospital, after attacking the apartment where the family was located near the port of Gaza City.
In addition, Hamas leader Kamal Abu Mueileq and his wife, Nabhan, were killed in another helicopter attack on a house southwest of Deir al Balah, in central Gaza, according to a source from the Palestinian Red Crescent, which has transferred the bodies to the morgue of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
Hamas denounces that Israel seeks to torpedo the truce
The Palestinian group Hamas said Israel is provoking “a deliberate escalation” in the Gaza Strip in order to paralyze the agreement reached on Thursday with the US and progress towards the second phase of the ceasefire. In a statement, the group says that with this latest wave of attacks, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to "hinder" the agreements reached "to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement."
