Senator Padilla rejects Todd Blanche's nomination as US Attorney General
Padilla, a California senator, criticized Blanche's loyalty to President Donald Trump and called for a prosecutor who has the Constitution as his priority.
Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) considered that President Donald Trump's proposal for Todd Bianche to be the attorney general of the United States is not the best option.
“As acting attorney general, Todd Blanche has proven more loyal to Donald Trump than to federal law, from supporting his discretionary ‘anti-militarization’ fund, to protecting the president and his family from tax audits, to perpetuating the cover-up of Epstein's files,” Padilla said in a statement.
Trump announced that he would proceed this Thursday to nominate Blanche, his former personal lawyer, to permanently head the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).
