A gem: Ford launches the more Californian Mustang Mach-E GT
The Mustang Mach-E California Special combines great sports car heritage with modern electric efficiency. The California spirit of the sixties returns.
In 1968, the sun-drenched roads of California saw the birth of a special version of the Ford Mustang that would soon become a symbol of style and freedom. More than five decades later, that same spirit returns, but in a fully electric body.

The announcement of this special edition comes at a time when the electrification of Ford's portfolio is accelerating. Far from being just an aesthetic tribute, this model aims to be a bridge between tradition and the future, uniting fans of the original Mustang with a new generation of drivers who value sustainability as much as speed.
The California Special package, which debuts on the basis of the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT, reinforces the identity of the electric SUV with exclusive details, a West Coast-inspired color palette, and improvements in both design and performance. It's not simply a commemorative edition: it's a statement of intent from the brand about the direction of its electric division.
Design that celebrates Californian culture
The exterior appearance of the 2026 Mach-E California Special does not go unnoticed. Ford introduces the Rave Blue hue, a vibrant color that conveys freshness and movement, reminiscent of the landscapes of the Pacific. This hue runs along the edges of the GT emblem on the rear and extends to the iconic illuminated Mustang logo in the grille, creating an unmistakable visual effect.
The 20-inch wheels with matte black aerodynamic covers not only provide a more aggressive presence, but also optimize airflow efficiency, improving autonomy. Every detail seems designed to combine Californian style with modern functionality, maintaining the balance between sportiness and elegance.
The cabin reflects the same philosophy. Inside, Ford uses Navy Pier upholstery, a durable, premium-textured material that covers the sport seats, steering wheel, and center console.
Blue and silver stitching is integrated into the floor mats, providing visual coherence and a handcrafted touch. The ambiance conveys calm, yet dynamic, evoking the contrast between the serenity of the ocean and the energy of driving.
In contrast to the extreme minimalism that characterizes many electric vehicles, the Mach-E California Special offers a more sensorial experience, where the design, ergonomics, and materials evoke the tradition of luxury and comfort that has always accompanied the Mustang name.
Electric power with the soul of a sports car
The heart of the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special beats with the same force as the base model, but with a more refined character. Its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system produces 480 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque, or 700 lb-ft in the Performance trim.
These numbers translate into explosive acceleration and immediate throttle response, characteristics that define the Mustang driving experience, whether the roar comes from a V8 or an electric motor.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimated range reaches 280 miles per charge, enough to travel the entire California coast without interruptions. In addition, Ford has optimized the cooling systems and software to optimize fuel efficiency for urban and highway trips.
The result is a vehicle that manages to fuse classic Mustang excitement with the most advanced electric technology. Driving modes allow you to adapt the engine and suspension response to different scenarios, from relaxed driving to a high-performance sporty experience.
The package also includes improvements to the regenerative braking system, offering a more natural driving feel and better energy recovery. All this without losing the DNA of a vehicle that was born to excite.
Exclusivity, price and availability
The California Special package costs an additional $2,495 over the base price of the 2026 Mach-E GT. Although Ford has not yet revealed the total value of the 2026 lineup, it is expected to remain in the range of the current Mach-E GT models, which is around $62,000.
Orders can be placed beginning October 22, 2025, with the first deliveries planned for the first quarter of 2026.
This margin of time will allow buyers to personalize their vehicle, choosing interior and exterior configurations that emphasize the model's exclusivity. Ford has confirmed that production will be limited, which will likely increase its appeal among Mustang collectors and enthusiasts.
