Anne Jakrajutatip is in serious trouble after failing to appear in court for fraud charges
Anne Jakrajutatip, co-owner of Miss Universe, is going through a very difficult time due to the fraud charges against her in Thailand.
The businesswoman, who is accused of alleged embezzlement and misappropriation of funds, suffered in recent hours The freezing of her bank accounts and assets further aggravates her situation. The action was carried out at the request of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (CBVT) following the accusations against her and the arrest warrant issued after she failed to appear at the close of her trial. While the court has not yet ruled on the matter, the CBVT has already done so, describing the founder of JKN Global Group as "unfit and untrustworthy in business." Following the sanction imposed against her, Anne will be barred from holding positions in public companies and from leaving Thailand. Her whereabouts are currently unknown. In October 2022, she acquired Miss Universe for $20 million, but in January 2024, she sold 50% of the shares to Mexican businessman Raul Rocha, who also faces various accusations in Mexico.
What is Anne Jakrajutatip accused of?
The accusations against Anne date back to 2023 and were made by plastic surgeon Raweewat Maschamadol, who decided to take legal action against her for fraud and for concealing information and lying during negotiations for him to invest in JKN Global Group, her company.
Anne sought to push Raweewat to buy bonds worth 30 million Thai baht ($880,000 USD), but by manipulating and concealing the true figures of her company.
“The accused invited him to invest knowing her inability to repay the money within the agreed time,” reads an excerpt from the court statement issued last November.
