Costco will begin August with one of its most important expansion plans of 2026: the chain plans to open seven new stores in the United States before the end of the month.
The openings will reach New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas, Georgia and Missouri. Texas will be the only state to receive two new warehouses, both located in communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
The first inauguration will take place on August 6 in Albany, New York, while the last is scheduled for August 28 in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Costco confirms on its new locations page that all seven warehouses are part of its August expansion schedule, although individual store information may be updated as the opening approaches.

New Costco store in Albany, New York
The Albany branch will be the first to open. The opening is scheduled for Thursday, August 6 in the Crossgates Mall area.
The new store will have a gas station, pharmacy, optician, hearing center and tire service, in addition to the wholesale warehouse. Costco is also offering a local promotion for new members who sign up by September 6 and activate auto-renewal.
New Executive members can receive a $40 digital Costco Shop Card, while those who choose Gold Star can get a $20 card.
Wisconsin and Minnesota will receive new branches
Costco will open its new Oconomowoc, Wisconsin warehouse on August 7. The store will be located at 1855 Kirkland Way and will be incorporated into the chain's branch network in the state.
A week later, on August 14, the Otsego, Minnesota branch will open. Although Costco uses the name of that location to identify it, the published address is 13690 Rogers Drive, Suite 180, in Rogers.
The new store will offer a pharmacy, gas station, optician, hearing center and tire service. New members who sign up and activate auto-renewal can receive a $50 digital Costco Shop Card, subject to local promotion terms.
Costco bets heavily on Texas
Texas will concentrate two of the seven starts. The new stores will be in Mansfield, scheduled to open on August 25, and Celina, scheduled to open the following day.
The Mansfield store will be more than 157,000 square feet, while Celina's will be around 158,000 square feet. The projects represent estimated investments of $19.5 million and $18.5 million, respectively, according to construction documents cited by local media.
The two openings reinforce Costco's presence in North Texas and add to other openings during 2026 in Liberty Hill and New Braunfels.
Stone Mountain to have Costco at former Olympic site
The Stone Mountain, Georgia, store will open August 27 on the site of the former tennis center used during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
The new warehouse will be about 150,000 square feet and will be part of a mixed-use development called Mountain Marketplace. The project will include housing, commercial space, restaurants, green areas and trails.
Costco's arrival seeks to reactivate land that remained unused for several years after the demolition of the old sports facilities.
The last opening will be in Missouri
The calendar will end on August 28 with the opening of a new store in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
With this opening, Costco will complete a sequence of seven openings in just 23 days, after having added new branches in Syracuse, Utah, and Pensacola, Florida, during June. In July, the company also expanded its international operation with a store in Taiwan.
Costco plans to continue opening stores
The August expansion is part of a broader growth strategy. Costco anticipated that it expects to open around 26 stores during its fiscal year 2026 and subsequently move towards a pace of about 30 new locations per year.
The company already operates more than 640 warehouses in the United States and Puerto Rico. The new openings allow us to approach growing suburban areas, where consumers seek to combine food, household items, gasoline and other services under the same membership.
How much does a Costco membership cost?
To shop in the new stores it will be necessary to have a current membership.
Gold Star membership costs $65 a year and allows you to shop in stores and Costco.com. It also includes an additional card for an eligible person living at the same address.
Executive membership costs $130 annually and includes a 2% reward on select purchases, as well as other benefits. Promotions for new members may vary by branch and typically require online registration, a valid email, and automatic renewal.
