Pet food recalled due to possible metal contamination
The recalled product is 13.2 ounce cans of High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor for dogs from the Pedigree brand
This week, through a statement, pet owners were informed about the recall of two lots of dog food after metals were found in the containers.
In the statement, the company highlighted that “the possible presence of sharp metal objects and foreign plastic materials in the cans could pose a danger to your dog.”
In this sense, he detailed that the affected products correspond to batch codes 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC, which did not meet the company's safety and health standards.
Given the problem, the manufacturer also noted: "Mars is collaborating with authorities to determine how these products came to market. We are committed to protecting pets and helping consumers identify and remove affected products from the market," it said.
The company stated that so far there have been no reported cases of pets getting sick due to the consumption of this food; However, he warned that the ingestion of foreign objects by pets can cause intestinal obstruction, suffocation, lacerations, among others.
In this sense, it recommends that pet owners who have purchased the product discard it, report it to the Pedigree brand or return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund.
