According to Dow Jones data, at the opening this Thursday the dollar was quoted at $17.28 Mexican pesos, a decrease of 0.31% compared to the previous close of $17.34 pesos per currency. Although the movement is moderate, it reflects the adjustments that continue to occur in the exchange market.
Despite recent fluctuations, the dollar's performance continues to show a stable trend over broader periods. In the last week, the US currency accumulated a drop of 0.19%, while compared to the same period last year it registered a drop of 7.21%.
On the other hand, exchange rate volatility remains at relatively low levels. It currently stands at 4.32%, below the reference volatility of 7.59%, which indicates a more stable behavior compared to other times of greater financial uncertainty.
Banxico also announced that the FIX exchange rate published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) for this Thursday was established at $17.3328 pesos per dollar. Likewise, the agency reported that the exchange rate applicable for the payment of obligations denominated in US dollars was set at $17.2945 pesos per unit.
The FIX is a reference used in various financial and commercial operations. Its calculation is made based on the average of the prices observed in the wholesale exchange market during banking business days.
