Those who own a Ram 1500 should pay attention to a new safety campaign announced by Stellantis.

The manufacturer confirmed the recall of nearly 1.5 million pickup trucks due to a possible problem in part of the rear seat belt fastening system, a situation that could reduce the protection of occupants in the event of an accident.

The measure involves vehicles from model years 2019 to 2026. Although most of the units are located in the United States, the review also covers trucks sold in Canada, Mexico and other countries, so owners should verify if their vehicle is included.
The problem is in the rear anchors
According to the information provided by Stellantis, some buckle anchors corresponding to the second row, specifically those in the center seat and the one located behind the driver, may not have been properly secured during the manufacturing process.
This detail does not usually generate signals during everyday driving. However, in a collision the system may not respond as designed if the anchorage loses its firmness, increasing the risk of injury for those traveling in those seats.
Not all trucks are affected
The company clarified that the call does not include all Ram 1500 manufactured between 2019 and 2026. For this reason, it recommends consulting the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), a 17-character code that allows you to confirm whether a unit is part of the safety campaign.
Stellantis also reported that, so far, it is aware of at least one case of a possible injury related to this defect. However, he indicated that no deaths have been recorded and specified that the front seat belts do not present any problems.
Authorized dealers will inspect the rear seat belt anchors and, if any parts are found out of specification, will re-attach using manufacturer-approved procedures. The intervention will be at no cost to the owners.
In the United States, notifications will begin to be sent around August 18. Meanwhile, Ram 1500 owners can also check the status of their truck by entering the VIN on the official Ram and Mopar platforms, where it will appear if there is any pending inspection campaign for that vehicle.
