Something happens in Kia: this model is almost ready, but it's delayed
Kia confirmed that its new Meta Turismo is 90% in production and could become the electric successor of the Stinger
Kia doesn't seem to be satisfied with manufacturing electric SUVs for every taste. The Korean brand also wants to recover that emotional side that once represented the Stinger and already has a c andidea very advanced to occupy that place. It's called Meta Tourism and, although it hasn't yet received definitive green light, the project is much closer to the streets than many imagined.

When first appeared in late 2025, the concept drawn attention for its aggressive design and future grand touring proportions rista. It didn't take long for comparisons to the Stinger to appear, and there were also those who asked Kia to dare to produce it as soon as possible.

The good news for those fanatics is that the model would already be 90% developed. The problem does not go through the design or engineering. The real doubt is in the business.
Kia recognizes that cost remains the big obstacle
Karim Habib, head of design at Kia, explained that the main brake has to do with the development of a high-performance electric vehicle. Even so, he made clear that the brand doesn't want to abandon this type of cars.
“Right now, this is a strategic issue. It's a pure electric vehicle and the cost of developing a high-performance electric vehicle is what we're looking for. "We hope that the upward trend in electric vehicles continues. I think there will be greater acceptance of this type of car. At least it's our bet."
The executive also recalled the experience Kia had with the Stinger and hinted that the company still believes in sports sedans, even in an industry dominated by SUVs.
“We have some experience making cars like the Stinger and it's something we don't want to give up. The MetaTurismo is our idea of a sports saloon for the gaming generation. . A few years ago, we started thinking what we could do beyond SUVs. We produce and sell many SUVs, which is positive, but we also believe that there are more possibilities.”
A design thought to mark a new stage
Beyond becoming a production model, the Meta Turismo already functions as a design laboratory for Kia's future. The concept introduces an evolution of the aesthetic philosophy known as Opposites United.
The brand wants to apply this new identity in upcoming launches, including urban electric models that will occupy a space similar to the current Picanto.
Habib explained the vision behind this new stage of design: “We design cars with a deliberately futuristic look because we want them, once again, to promise a better future and for people to join us in that vision. idea of finding new forms is not just that, but finding new forms, because something new by the fact of being new contributes nothing. The important thing is that it contributes progress. It must contribute something positive to the experience.”
The project already demonstrated that it can become a reality
Inside Kia they assure that the car is not simply a salon fantasy. Oliver Samson, head of design for Europe, confirmed that the team already verified the technical viability of the project.
“We wanted to answer that question: Is it something we could do or what would it look like? In order to answer it, we needed to show that it would work. And yes, we found that it would physically be possible.”
Everything indicates that Kia is still waiting for the right moment to launch such a model. The brand believes that the electric sports car market still needs to mature a little more, although the Meta Tourismo seems to have overcome almost all the previous stages.
And that, for those still missing the Stinger, is quite important news.
