Maharashtra: Mass cheating in HSC exam in Pune, case registered against nine teachers

Maharashtra HSC Examinations 2023: A case has been registered against nine teachers for their alleged role in an incident of mass copying by students during the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination at a school in Pune district. These teachers are suspected of helping and instigating students to use unfair means in writing the class 12 state board physics paper, officials said.
A flying squad of the education board on Monday detected a case of mass cheating at the Jawahar Secondary and Higher Secondary School at Kedgaon in Daund taluka of the district in western Maharashtra, officials said. He said an FIR (First Information Report) was registered at the Yavat police station under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act against nine teachers who were on inspection duty at the school. Officials said the names of the students who took part in the rampant copying in the school were submitted to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
The state government has started "Copy Free Exam Campaign" to prevent malpractices by students while writing exam papers. Ayush Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pune Zilla Parishad, said, "The Zilla Parishad has coordinated with the police department and municipal corporations to strictly implement the state government's "copy-free campaign".
He said that the Zilla Parishad has provided study notes, exam paper analysis and test materials to the schools to help the students prepare better for the exams. Prasad said, “We have held several rounds of meetings with schools to help improve the academic performance of students. Maharashtra State Board Class 12 exams (HSC) began on February 21 and will continue till March 20, 2023.
