Immigrant tells what is the best-paid job he has had in the U.S.: up to $1,800 weekly
An immigrant in the U.S. revealed what his best-paid job was, how much he earned per week, and the sacrifices involved in keeping it.
A Latino immigrant living in the United States shared on social media that the best-paid job he had in that country is in the construction sector. According to his experience, he earned up to $1,800 a week working as a "concrete helper."
In a video posted on TikTok, the worker explained that he had held several jobs, but one stood out above the rest. "Construction pays well depending on how much you know," he commented.
He clarified that he didn't have a lot of experience or knowledge, but that didn't stop him from receiving a high salary. "Even though I was only an assistant, passing things on (to an officer) was a good salary," he stated.
His daily work consisted of unloading and applying cement at different construction sites. "People who understand this work well are the ones who earn a good amount of money," he added.
The hardest part was enduring the heat.
As he recalled, this activity required great physical effort and extreme weather conditions. "It's pretty hard work because sometimes you have to get up in the middle of the night," he explained. The hardest part was enduring the heat. "The worst part is when you go to dump the cement and there's a lot of sun," he said. It dried quickly, forcing them to work faster. "That's one of the things I couldn't stand, the immense heat in the afternoon, and while you were dumping cement, the truck would come, then the next one," he said. Despite the sacrifice, the pay made up for it. "The good thing was that it paid well," he said. The young man explained that, although it wasn't a specialized position, the demand for work was constant. "Generally, I worked Monday through Saturday, but occasionally we did work Monday through Sunday," he said. Furthermore, the shifts could extend late into the night. "Sometimes until midnight," he noted. He saw that extra effort as an investment: more hours worked meant better income. “It’s a well-paid job, really,” he concluded.
According to USAFacts data, updated in January 2025, construction is one of the three industries with the highest number of employed immigrants in the United States. This sector employs 3.3 million people, representing 28.6% of the total number of workers in the sector.
