After the heavy rains in Delhi, some shocking pictures have emerged from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), in which water dripping from the hostel roof and broken walls are clearly visible. The decaying pictures of JNU in the rain are becoming increasingly viral on social media. After the pictures went viral here, the university administration took cognizance of it and told that work has been started in this direction expeditiously. JNU Vice Chancellor's statement has also come in this and he told that the work of repairing the roof and broken walls of the hostel is going on fast.

After pictures of leaky roofs and waterlogging in corridors of the hostel went viral on social media, Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice Chancellor Shantisree D Pandit said that the repair work of the hostel and libraries has been expedited. He further informed that the repair work will be completed by March next year.

JNU vice-chancellor Shantisree D Pandit said, the university had received the first installment after the fund was sought from the UGC for the repair of infrastructure. He told that at present Rs 14 crore has been received from UGC as the first installment. The UGC has allocated Rs 28 crore to JNU for the repair work. JNU said that a committee has been formed to look into the repair work. In the meeting held with the officials of the committee, it was told that the immediate repair work would be completed within a month.

The news of JNU's deteriorating condition in the rain came to light when hostel students shared a video of waterlogging and leaking roof on social media. A PhD student told that the Godavari hostel has been flooded with rain water. Water is dripping from the ceiling.
