In a move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, the authorities have decided to enforce mandatory transfers for revenue employees. The department has relaxed the previously set five-year limit for transfers on administrative grounds. Within the next month, revenue employees stationed at a single location for an extended period will be compulsorily transferred. This directive was issued by Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Deepak Kumar Singh, on Monday. District Magistrates have been instructed to ensure the implementation of this order.

Transfers for Urban Employees

The directive specifies that if any revenue employee has been stationed in a particular zone for more than five years, they must be transferred to a different zone. Additionally, revenue employees stationed in urban areas for more than two years have been directed to be relocated to rural areas. Urban areas include Nagar Palika, Nagar Parishad, and Nagar Panchayats.

Past Attempts and Exceptions

The letter issued to the District Magistrates emphasizes the need for full compliance with the transfer order. Some exceptions have been made for physically handicapped employees, who have been given the option to transfer from one constituency to another. Consequently, even revenue employees with less than five years of service in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department will now undergo transfers. Notably, a similar order for transfers was issued three years ago. However, the completion of the process was subsequently postponed.
