Two Hispanic men murdered during morning walk in a Houston park

The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division is investigating the murder of two Hispanic men, both approximately 70 years old, who were shot while taking their daily walk in Wildheather Park, located in the 14850 block of White Heather Dr.
The The double homicide occurred around 5:45 a.m. on Friday, June 27, as the victims, neighbors and friends, were walking as they usually did every morning. According to Sergeant Michael Arrington, the gunman ambushed them or approached them from behind and opened fire multiple times, even continuing to fire while the victims were already on the ground.
A witness who was walking along the trail around 6:00 a.m. discovered the bodies. More than a dozen gunshots were heard at the scene, authorities reported.
So far, police do not believe it was a robbery, as the victims had their phones, keys and other personal belongings on them, Telemundo reported.
An unconfirmed witness reported seeing a suspect flee into a vehicle that then headed east from the crime scene.
Police are asking for the cooperation of anyone who may have been in the area during the early morning hours and may have observed something suspicious.
