An American Airlines flight covering the route between Charlotte and Philadelphia experienced moments of tension when a passenger attacked another traveler
An American Airlines flight heading to Philadelphia experienced tense moments Sunday morning after a passenger was accused of assaulting another traveler and disturbing the order on board.
The incident occurred on Flight 3046, which had taken off from Charlotte, North Carolina, and was approaching Philadelphia International Airport.
According to audio obtained by Fox News Digital, the pilot informed air traffic control about a situation involving a passenger who had allegedly bitten another person and was attempting to confront other occupants.
Crew requested presence of police and medical teams
During the communication, the crew requested that law enforcement officers and medical teams wait for the plane's arrival.
The pilot stated that he did not know what had caused the passenger's behavior and commented that it could be a medical situation that required specialized attention.
He also indicated that the police presence would be a preventive measure to support health personnel.
In a later statement, American Airlines said the passenger was experiencing a medical emergency and received assistance from a health care professional who was on board before landing.
The airline added that additional medical staff were waiting for the passenger at the arrival gate once the plane landed safely in Philadelphia.
American Airlines also thanked the crew and the medical professional who intervened during the incident for their actions.
The conversation between the pilot and the air traffic controller concluded with a more relaxed exchange when the controller wished him a happy Father's Day.
“What a day, huh?” commented the pilot before adding that he would have a story to tell his daughters.
