Mexican authorities continue to strike major blows against organized crime by capturing criminal leaders and seizing large quantities of drugs.
This happened recently on the coasts of Chiapas and Oaxaca, where Navy personnel intercepted three vessels that, together, were transporting 4 tons of cocaine.
This fact did not go unnoticed by the United States government and, through Ambassador Ronald Johnson, they highlighted the work carried out by the Mexican government to combat drug trafficking.
"Another hard blow against the cartels. More than four tons of cocaine seized, 13 criminals arrested and three vessels intercepted by @SEMAR_mx off the coasts of Chiapas and Oaxaca," the diplomat highlighted through social networks.
"These actions are dismantling criminal organizations and preventing millions of doses from reaching our communities. Under the leadership of @realDonaldTrump and President @Claudiashein, our cooperation continues to deliver results. #TogetherWeAchieveMore," Johnson added.
Along with his message, the American ambassador shared a series of images showing the interception efforts, as well as a video that was previously shared by Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico.
According to the authorities, this seizure in the South Pacific is recognized as one of the most relevant of the year, both due to the magnitude of the drugs seized and the impact on the trafficking routes that operate in that area.
According to data from the Government of Mexico, during the current administration the Navy has seized more than 80 tons of cocaine on the high seas, in a context of bilateral cooperation and growing pressure from the United States to intensify the fight against drug trafficking and reduce the flow of drugs into United States territory.
