July ended with very positive news for Hyundai Motor Group in the United States. The three brands of the South Korean conglomerate, Hyundai, Kia and Genesis, recorded the best sales results in their history for that month, confirming that its commitment to SUVs and electrification continues to find a strong response among buyers.
The figures also reveal an increasingly clear change in market preferences. While hybrid vehicles continue to gain ground, SUVs maintain absolute prominence and are consolidating themselves as the type of vehicle that most drives the growth of brands.
Far from being an isolated result, July's performance strengthens the manufacturer's strategy, which has expanded its offer with models capable of combining efficiency, technology and design for different customer profiles.
Hyundai finds its biggest push in hybrids
Hyundai reported the sale of 82,480 vehicles during July, 4% more than in the same month of the previous year. The Tucson once again became one of the brand's biggest stars by reaching its best July in history, with a 20% increase in its deliveries.
Electrification also made a difference. Sales of hybrid models grew 35%, with notable gains for the Sonata Hybrid, which increased 85%, followed by the Elantra Hybrid with 13% and the Tucson Hybrid with 5%.
Among the models with the highest sales volume were the Tucson with 19,714 units, the Elantra with 17,115, the Santa Fe with 13,373 and the Palisade with 12,173. The Elantra also stood out for registering a growth of 39%. In contrast, the electric Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 had a decline compared to July of last year.
Kia keeps pace and aims for another record year
Kia also had a historic month by selling 75,857 vehicles in the United States, which represented a growth of 7% compared to the same period in 2025. With this result, the brand has already accumulated 506,584 units sold so far in 2026 and maintains the goal of achieving its fourth consecutive annual record.
Growth was led by hybrids. Its sales soared by 108%, while the entire electrified range advanced by 52%. The Sportage Hybrid increased by 76%, the Seltos by 61%, the Carnival Hybrid and Sorento Hybrid by 16%, the Telluride by 13% and the K4 by 8%.
The Sportage continues to be Kia's most successful vehicle this year, with more than 110,000 units sold, while the Telluride retains solid acceptance among those looking for a spacious and well-equipped SUV.
Genesis strengthens its presence in the premium segment
Although Genesis manages lower volumes than Hyundai and Kia, the luxury brand continues to grow consistently. During July, it delivered 6,947 vehicles, 4% more than a year ago, also reaching 22 consecutive months with year-on-year increases.
The SUVs were once again the protagonists. The GV70 led sales with 2,978 units, followed by the GV80 with 2,044. The GV80 Coupé reached 328 units and the electric GV60 reached 113 vehicles sold.
By contrast, Genesis sedans posted declines, a trend that coincides with U.S. consumers' preference for luxury trucks with more space, elevated driving positions and electrification options, especially those equipped with hybrid systems.
