A Texas funeral home operator was arrested after allegedly posing as the spouse of a deceased man to steal his $2.2 million estate.

Unique Green, 47, who is listed as Michael James Green in Harris County jail records, was arrested and charged with theft over $300,000 and four counts of forgery, Click2Houston, KTRK and the Houston Chronicle reported.

According to court records obtained by the aforementioned media, Green was an unlicensed director of the “A Community Funeral Home” on Wheeler Avenue, Houston, and allegedly posed as the spouse of Lawrence Gammon, 78.

Gammon's family hired Green Funeral Home to handle funeral arrangements following his death in June 2025 and provided his personal information. Weeks later, Green submitted a will in which she claimed to be Gammon's partner and heir to his estate.

After submitting the fraudulent documents, Green allegedly stole nearly $2.2 million from Gammon's bank accounts and his three vehicles, which were located at his Tottenham Drive home.

He also allegedly opened an account in the name of “Estate of Lawrence E. Gammon” using a falsified death certificate, after accessing Gammon's personal bank accounts, according to the outlet.

Investigators later discovered that Green was posing as another legitimate Houston funeral home and had spoofed his phone number and email, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Green has a criminal record for suspected forgery, assault, theft and fraud, according to court records dating back to 1998, obtained by the Houston Chronicle. Green has also been charged with forging signatures on affidavits, giving false testimony and other crimes.
