Hispanic from Los Angeles sentenced to life in prison for murdering her 4-year-old daughter
María del Refugio Ávalos, 40 years old, was sentenced to a sentence of 25 years to life chain for killing by strangulation her daughter in January 2024
A Hispanic woman from east Los Angeles, found guilty of the murder of her 4-year-old daughter, was sentenced this Friday to a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
María del Refugio Ávalos, 40 years old, was found guilty on March 19 by a jury in downtown Los Angeles on one count of second-degree murder and one count of assault on a minor resulting in death.
The jurors had notified Judge Karla D. Kerlin of the Los Angeles County Superior Court that they failed to they will agree on the special verdict that the crime was committed voluntarily, deliberately,and with premeditation.
