The death of a Hispanic inmate in a California state prison is being investigated as a homicide, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) announced this Saturday.

According to a news release, staff at the Richard J. Donovan Prison in San Diego County found inmate Hector Ozuna, 66, unconscious inside his cell around 6:07 a.m. this Saturday, August 1.

The CDCR said Ozuna shared a cell with Alexis Guerrero, 30, when the alleged homicide occurred.
