Sports journalist Fernando Vargas was the victim of an armed robbery while broadcasting live from Cuernavaca, Morelos.

The event occurred on the night of May 19 and was recorded on video, which caused rapid viralization on social networks.

Vargas was participating in a link for the sports program “Activo Deportes” from inside his vehicle, parked at a gas station, when an armed subject opened the car door and forced him to get out.

During the transmission, threats are heard and the communicator is seen handing over his belongings while the camera continues recording.

Various media outlets indicated that the journalist was stripped of his wallet, cell phone and his vehicle.

After the assault, the transmission was abruptly interrupted and colleagues on the program later confirmed that Vargas was safe, although affected by what happened.

The case generated reactions on social networks due to the insecurity in Morelos and the crudeness of the images captured in real time.

Users and colleagues of the sports media condemned the attack and requested support to identify those responsible.
