A career built since adolescence
Born in Meopham, Kent, England, Bennett showed her passion for music from an early age. She participated in local talent competitions and, at age 14, formed a duo with a friend with whom they performed in pubs and bars. His big opportunity came when he participated in “The X Factor”, managing to advance to the group of 12 finalists.
Although she was eliminated, this exposure led to her receiving a call to audition for a new group created by Robin Antin, founder of Pussycat Dolls. After being selected, Bennett moved to Los Angeles at age 17 to join Paradiso Girls.
With Paradiso Girls, Bennett released the debut single “Patron Tequila” in 2009, featuring Eve and Lil’ Jon, which peaked at number three on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. However, the group dissolved a year later after being separated from their record company.
Following this experience, Bennett embarked on a solo career that led her to collaborate with artists such as will.i.am and CeeLo Green. But it was in 2011 when he achieved global recognition by lending his voice to the chorus of LMFAO's “Party Rock Anthem,” a song that dominated the charts around the world and accumulated billions of views.
Bennett later joined G.R.L., a group that continued the legacy of the Pussycat Dolls. The group achieved major successes, including collaborating with Pitbull on 2014's “Wild Wild Love” and releasing their self-titled EP that same year. From this work came the single “Ugly Heart”, which ranked among the top 20 in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
The trajectory of G.R.L. was marred by tragedy in September 2014, when his partner Simone Battle died at age 25. The group dissolved after this event, although they reformed as a trio in 2016 with Bennett, continuing to tour in the following years. In 2021, the group confirmed the release of new music, a project that ultimately did not materialize.
Bennett leaves behind his six-year-old daughter Harlow, the result of his relationship with dancer Kenny Wormald.
