Sheinbaum says that Trump “is not well informed” and prefers “not to get involved” after new accusations from the Republ
The Mexican president said that it would be good for the US to carry out ground work in US territory so that no more weapons enter Mexico.
This Thursday morning, in her morning conference from the National Palace, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, assured that "we should not get hooked" on the new statements of her American counterpart, Donald Trump, who said within the framework of the G7 work, that Mexico is controlled by cartels and that the Mexican president "is a very good woman, but also very scared."
"He has said it on other occasions, I have said that President Trump has his way of communicating, we do not have to get caught up in every statement, but the people of Mexico know that we are working, that is what matters to me. The people of Mexico know that every day we give our minds, hearts, souls, everything for the people of Mexico," he said.
"He also addresses the Americans in his own way, in his own way. We do not want to enter into a personal debate with President Trump, we defend our positions and always seek the best possible relationship with our principles, defending ourselves, until now that has always been my position and I believe it is the correct one," he reiterated.
After being questioned about whether Mexico is controlled by drug trafficking cartels as Trump has stated on several occasions, Sheinbaum Pardo assured that the Republican is not well informed and gave as an example what was done by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico, Omar García Harfuch, the head of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, and the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR), Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles.
"He (Donald Trump) is not well informed, I have told him personally, it is not something he says for the first time. The Mexican state exists, I told him here the other day, when the Secretary of Security of the United States (Markwayne Mullin) came, who was here and referred to criminal groups, I told him, there is a Mexican state, and there are heads of institutions of the Mexican state in addition to the president. Here you have, for example, Omar García Harfuch, who was on the verge of losing his life, by a criminal group, and that after that attack he decided to continue giving his life to public service and the people of Mexico," he mentioned.
“Here you have the general secretary, General Trevilla, who recently in an operation to arrest one of the most wanted leaders of an organized crime group, unfortunately and sadly more than 30 men and women lost their lives, with that difficulty and every day is dedicated to the protection of Mexico,” he continued.
"And here you have the admiral secretary (Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles), who every day protects the seas, the coasts and who is personally attending to security, and here are the results, because there are results," he said.
The head of the Mexican executive revealed that she has told Donald Trump that the people of Mexico “are very brave” and that they will always defend their sovereignty.
"There is a lot of dedication, a lot of commitment from honest, brave and patriotic public servants, just as I told him and I have said it to President Trump. There was a time I told you, President, the people of Mexico are very brave, very brave, and they are an extraordinary people, and they defend their sovereignty. So that has always been our position."
Given Trump's intention to carry out land work in Mexican territory to supposedly combat drug trafficking, the head of the Mexican executive mentioned that this work should be done by the Americans but in their territory to prevent more weapons from reaching Mexico.
"It would be very good if they did it in their territory, because it is very important that they stop the entry of weapons... Here in Mexico, some vehicles were stopped that were bringing weapons, a good arsenal of weapons from the United States, but here in Mexican territory, then they, there, we here and coordinating," he said.
