Two sisters accused of stabbing employee by mistake while ordering food in Michigan
The employee was hospitalized and underwent surgery, while the defendants face multiple charges
Two Michigan sisters have been charged for allegedly participating in an assault inside a Detroit chicken restaurant after a dispute over a food order.
Brianna Long, 29, and Kierianna Long, 26, face several charges, including assault with intent to murder, according to reports cited by local media.
The events occurred on May 30 and the victim was a 23-year-old employee of the establishment.
According to the version presented by the prosecution, the sisters began arguing with the worker after receiving the wrong order.
Prosecutor's Office maintains that the altercation escalated inside the premises
According to prosecutors, during the incident both women crossed into the area behind the counter.
Authorities allege that they later threw objects at the employee and hit her using utensils from the restaurant.
The prosecution also claims that they tried to throw hot oil at the worker's head.
During the confrontation, the employee responded by throwing objects at the accused.
Authorities maintain that, at that moment, the sisters grabbed a knife that had been thrown during the altercation and one of them allegedly wounded the worker in the abdomen.
Investigators also indicated that during the episode one of the accused made death threats.
The employee was taken to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery.
Defense questions version of events
After the incident, authorities indicated that the sisters tried to leave the scene, although they were later detained.
During the judicial process it was reported that Brianna Long, who was pregnant at the time of the events, gave birth four days before appearing in court.
Her defense attorney maintained that the employee had initiated the verbal confrontation and later began throwing objects.
The defendant claimed before the judge that she was innocent and asked for consideration for having a newborn baby at home.
However, the court ordered cash bail measures of $25,000 for Brianna Long and $100,000 for Kierianna Long.
The judicial process continues and the accusations will have to be resolved in the next stages of the case.
