Woman dies after getting out of vehicle during argument in Houston
The victim got out of the car on the highway after an altercation with her companion and was run over by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction
A woman lost her life early Saturday morning after being run over by a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction in southeast Houston, after getting out of the car she was traveling in during an argument, the Houston Police Department (HPD) reported.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Highway 225, near Allen Genoa Road, when a couple was arguing inside a moving vehicle.
The victim walked into oncoming traffic
According to Sergeant Michael Barrow, witnesses indicated that the car pulled onto the shoulder and the woman got out of the vehicle, visibly upset. She then walked into the oncoming lanes.
It was at that moment that another vehicle struck her. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Driver cooperated with authorities
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman left immediately the highway, called 911, and fully cooperated with authorities, HPD said.
Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident. The identities of those involved have not yet been released, and no charges have been announced.
