Edgar Vivar Defends Florinda Meza After Controversy Over Chespirito Bioseries
Since the premiere of ‘Chespirito: Sin Querer Queriendo’, Florinda Meza has been harshly criticized.
The premiere of the bioseries about the life of Roberto Gómez Bolanos, Chespirito, has rekindled old controversies surrounding to the legacy of the famous comedian and the people who surrounded him. One of the most criticized targets has been Florinda Meza, Gómez Bolaños' widow, who has received strong attacks on social media.
In response, Edgar Vivar, iconic actor from El Chavo del 8 and close collaborator of Chespirito, broke his silence to defend her.
In an interview with Ventaneando, Vivar expressed his support for Meza, describing her as a perfectionist dedicated to her work. “She was always very diligent, obsessed with perfection. She is a perfectionist, that's for sure,” said the actor, who played Mr. Barriga.
He also lamented the hatred that has been generated against him since the launch of the series, which, according to him, has revived controversial statements from the past.
Vivar not only defended Meza's professionalism, but also fondly remembered their first years working together.
“The first image I have of her is precisely as a blonde. For many years she was blonde, she was very pretty, very attractive,” he shared during the interview.
Far from joining the criticism, the actor painted a very different picture than the one circulating on social media, where many accuse Meza of various conflicts within the cast.
"She's been vilified a lot on social media," Vivar commented, suggesting that the series has served as a catalyst to revive unnecessary resentments.
Chespirito’s legacy called into question
The bioseries, although focused on the life of Gómez Bolaños, has put the spotlight on the comedian's personal and professional relationships, including his marriage to Meza and tensions with other cast members. Although the actress has not directly participated in the project, her figure has been at the center of the controversy.
Vivar, however, called for moderation, remembering the affection and respect that those who were part of a project that shaped the childhood of millions still deserve.
Will it be enough to calm the waters? For now, social media remains a battlefield, but at least Florinda Meza can count on the support of an old friend.
