British singer Adele, winner of multiple Grammy Awards, will make her acting debut in the new film Cry to Heaven, directed by renowned filmmaker and fashion mogul Tom Ford.

According to Deadline, this production, an adaptation of Anne Rice's 1982 novel of the same name, is set in 18th-century Italy and It will feature a star-studded cast including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, and Thandiwe Newton, among others. The film is currently in pre-production. Principal photography is expected to begin in January 2026, with a release planned for the fall of that year. Tom Ford, known for his work in fashion and his acclaimed films *A Single Man* and *Nocturnal Animals*, is directing, producing, and writing this adaptation, marking a new chapter in his artistic career by casting Adele in a leading role. This acting debut by Adele represents an unexpected but very welcome move by her fans, as the singer had previously expressed her disapproval of singers trying their hand at acting. “I don’t like it when singers try their hand at acting; it makes them mediocre,” she said in a 2015 interview.
