Amaia Montero on her return to La Oreja de Van Gogh: "I'm moved"
Recently, the iconic Spanish band announced the return of the 49-year-old singer, who was the band's original vocalist until 2007
After announcing her return to La Oreja de Van Gogh, Amaia Montero broke her silence about how she feels about returning to the band that catapulted her to fame more than 20 years ago.
In an emotional and sincere message published On On her Instagram, the Spanish singer confessed the profound personal and artistic process she went through in recent years before this new phase.
“For six years I often thought that I couldn't go on, that I wouldn't achieve it, perhaps because in reality I no longer wanted to achieve anything. I then began to get rid of the idea of ??myself in order to be me. It is not an easy, comfortable, or pleasant path, but it is very real,” wrote Montero.
The 49-year-old singer, who in recent years has experienced mental health issues, assured that for a long time she thought she would no longer have more opportunities to return to doing what she loves most: music.
“They say that opportunities only come once. That if you don't seize them, they don't come back. But life has taught me the opposite: opportunities are as many as you allow yourself. Opportunities are born when you decide you deserve another. When you choose to stand up and continue. When you get up again,” she assured.
Montero expressed feeling "moved" by the support and affection she has received following the confirmation of her return and by the feeling of "being at home" upon meeting with the group, with whom she will go on tour next year.
"I thank you all for all the affection I have received these past few days. I am moved by the tickets that are selling like wildfire and by the audience that makes me feel at home, the one that has been waiting for me," she said.
The reunion tour, called So Many Things to Tell, will begin in May 2026 and will tour Spain and Latin America. Tickets have already sold out in several cities, demonstrating the enormous expectation generated by her return.
In 2007,Amaia Montero decided to leave La Oreja de Van Gogh after a decline as the group's vocalist to begin a solo career and explore new artistic horizons outside of the group that launched her to fame.
After Montero's departure, La Oreja de Van Gogh continued with Leire Martinez as the lead vocalist for 17 years, until she also left the group a year ago.
