The expectation for the return of the most iconic heroes of the big screen reached a new milestone. “Avengers: Doomsday,” the next big bet from Marvel Studios and Disney, managed to raise $16.5 million in pre-sale tickets in the United States, despite the fact that its release in theaters is scheduled for December 18.

The commercial phenomenon began after the launch of pre-sales for premium formats in approximately 1,000 movie theaters in the United States. According to internal studio sources cited by Variety, tickets for the special screenings on Thursday, December 17 and Friday, December 18 were sold out in a matter of hours.

The overwhelming response from the public occurs just a week after the release of the film's first official trailer.

A notable factor in this deployment is the debut of the Infinity Vision format, a projection technology developed by Disney. This large format brand, characterized by giant screens, superior brightness and an immersive sound system, was created by the company after Warner Bros. exclusively secured IMAX theaters for the third installment of “Dune”, whose premiere coincides with the same date.

The film promises an unprecedented multiversal clash. The first trailer showed Thor, played again by Chris Hemsworth, gathering a vast alliance of superheroes to face the fearsome Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

The confirmed cast includes the participation of Chris Evans as Captain America, Pedro Pascal in the role of Mister Fantastic, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh playing Yelena Belova and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, among other prominent figures from the franchise.

Directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, “Avengers: Doomsday” represents the 39th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the precise details of the plot are being kept strictly under wraps, the film will lay the groundwork for the sequel, “Avengers: Secret Wars,” scheduled to hit theaters in 2027.
