Actor Ryan Gosling will make the leap to superhero movies with Marvel Studios. The company's president, Kevin Feige, announced during the iconic Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con that the Canadian actor will play Johnny Blaze in the new Ghost Rider movie, scheduled for release in theaters in 2028.

The auditorium erupted in applause when Gosling took the stage to confirm his incorporation into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). "As you know, this is a character I've wanted to play for a long time. Kevin, Josh Horowitz, Hall H, thank you," the star declared from the stand.

Gosling will play the famous motorcycle acrobat who, after making a pact with the devil to save a loved one, becomes linked to a supernatural demon and becomes the Spirit of Vengeance: a flaming-skulled antihero equipped with a fiery motorcycle, chains of fire and the lethal “Gaze of Penance.”

The character, created in 1972 by Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog, had his previous stint in cinema in two productions led by Nicolas Cage (2007 and 2011), as well as a television adaptation in the series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” by actor Gabriel Luna.

For Gosling, nominated three times for an Oscar and who has just achieved massive box office success with “Project Hail Mary,” the project represents his first foray into the comics genre. At the same time, it represents a symbolic return to the Disney ecosystem, where he began his artistic career at the age of 13 in “The All New Mickey Mouse Club.” With this signing, Marvel Studios adds one of Hollywood's biggest stars to its plans for the next stages of its interconnected universe.
