J Balvin closes the year with his “BZRP Music Session”
The Colombian artist and the Argentine producer surprised the world with a collaboration full of melancholy and hints of vallenato
In a move that few saw coming for this year's end, J Balvin and Bizarrap paralyzed social media with the release of BZRP Music Session #62.
Under the central phrase “I should hate you, but I don't feel like it,” the duo not only delivered a resounding radio hit, but also definitively closes a chapter of tension in the industry Urban music.
Without prior notice, J Balvin and Bizarrap surprised everyone by announcing in a joint social media post that they would be releasing BZRP Music Session #62 on Friday night.
J Balvin's session was one of the most anticipated by his fans, who wanted the Colombian artist to respond to the diss track Residente released in the same space in 2022.
However, three years later, artistic maturity prevailed. Balvin, who recently confessed to having overcome stages of egocentrism, didn't use this space for confrontation, but rather for introspection and reflection.
Tribute to vallenato by Omar Geles
Musically, the session is an eclectic offering. Bizarrap managed to fuse his characteristic electronic sound and merengue rhythms with the essence of romantic vallenato. Balvin himself paid an emotional tribute to the late accordionist Omar Geles with the line: “I’m going to drink listening to Omar Geles,” highlighting his Colombian roots on a global platform. The song's lyrics also explore the emptiness of an unresolved breakup: “And the one who forgot me, forgot that she forgot me,” the artist sings. Following the release of his BZRP Music Session, J Balvin assured his social media followers that it was just a “taste” of what's to come in 2026, the year in which his definitive return to the big stages is expected. With Session #62, the “Kid from Medellin” demonstrates that his capacity for reinvention remains intact, closing out 2025 with a message of reconciliation and a hit that is already dominating music trends.
