Paul McCartney compares Taylor Swift's global impact to Beatlemania
The former member of The Beatles assures that Taylor Swift's popularity reflects the phenomenon he experienced with his colleagues in the 60s
With almost seven decades of experience, former member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney, recognizes the success and global impact that artists like Taylor Swift achieve today. When referring to his worldwide fame, the composer compared it to what he experienced in the 1960s, at the height of Beatlemania.
During a visit to the BBC Radio program, “Tracks of My Years,” the 83-year-old celebrity was asked if he had any advice for the “Shake it Off” singer given the wave of looks she attracts wherever she goes.
With the sincerity that characterizes him, Paul McCartney stated: "The world fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had. But I don't think she needs any advice, to be honest with you."
At the insistence of journalist Vernon Kay, the famous one humorously conceded: "If she asked me, of course I would (...) I'm like the older brother of that generation... or rather the grandfather, actually."
And according to his testimony, his appreciation for Taylor Swift has transcended from the professional to the personal sphere due to their coexistence at events organized by his wife Nancy Shevell and his daughter, designer Stella McCartney.
"Many of those girls were at this party: Taylor was there, Billie Eilish was there, Olivia Rodrigo was there, Sabrina Carpenter was there. They are very nice people. They are very good," said the renowned musician.
It is worth mentioning that Paul McCartney is not the only artist who has compared Taylor Swift's impact to that of The Beatles in their heyday. Singer Billy Joel said he was pleasantly surprised after attending the Eras Tour in Tampa, Florida, in April 2023.
“The only thing I can compare it to is the phenomenon of Beatlemania,” the pianist declared in an interview with The New York Times at that time.
