Rihanna returned to the stage at a Jay-Z concert
The star broke his long absence from the stage on the last night of the rapper's residency at Yankee Stadium in New York
On a night that will remain etched in the memories of many, Rihanna made a surprise return to the stage during the closing day of Jay-Z's mini-residency, titled “Extra Innings,” at New York's Yankee Stadium.
Before a euphoric crowd that did not expect to see her, the 38-year-old artist showed that her magnetism is still intact after several years away from big shows.
The concert, designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z's debut album, “Reasonable Doubt” (1996), and the 25th anniversary of “The Blueprint” (2001), began with a delay of almost four hours due to thousands of fans jamming the entrance gates, forcing a temporary closure for security reasons. However, the wait was worth it when the lights focused on the unexpected guest of the night.
Rihanna jumped on stage wearing a striking Saint Laurent outfit to join the rapper and lifelong friend. Together they performed their iconic 2009 collaboration, “Run This Town.”
After the initial ovation, the singer originally from Barbados took a moment to interact closely with the audience: "You all know I'm a little rusty, right? It's been a while. Are you with me tonight?" she joked with a smile.
The singer then raised the energy of the stadium by performing her 2015 hit, “Bitch Better Have My Money,” solo.
This performance represents the singer's most significant return since her acclaimed Super Bowl Halftime show in 2023.
Although she gave a private concert in India in 2024, she had not set foot on stage in years, taking a break from her world tours since 2016 to focus on her cosmetics and fashion brands.
Before saying goodbye, Rihanna moved those present by confessing from the heart: "I missed this shit, seriously! New York, I love you!"
The closing of the show also featured stellar appearances by Beyoncé, Pharrell, Usher and Teyana Taylor.
