Scott Pelley is fired from CBS after differences with the management of “60 Minutes”
The veteran CBS News correspondent was fired from his position at "60 Minutes" after issuing harsh criticism of the show's new direction.
CBS News says “goodbye” to veteran news correspondent Scott Pelley after 36 years at the television network. The reason? The harsh criticism that the communicator issued about the new direction of the program in front of all the staff.
The news was confirmed by the television station itself, ensuring that the dismissal occurred with just cause: “Your contract with CBS is terminated with just cause, with immediate effect,” it was reported in a letter released by the company itself.
For his part, the show's executive producer, Nick Bilton, stated in a statement: "Pelley's antipathy towards the future of the show has been made clear and evident. And I have heard you."
