The most exclusive Bugatti W16 Mistral pays tribute to “The Little Prince”
An exclusive W16 Mistral transforms literature and craftsmanship into one of Bugatti's most special creations
A moon, a prince and a trip back to Earth. These elements, closer to a novel than to an engineering department, were the starting point for one of the most surprising creations that have come out of Bugatti's workshops.

The French brand presented the W16 Mistral “Le Retour du Jeune Prince”, a unique piece developed by its Sur Mesure division. The project was born from the vision of a collector who wanted something more than an exclusive car. I was looking for a creation capable of telling a story.

The inspiration came from “The Return of the Young Prince”, a contemporary work inspired by the universe created by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. From that narrative, designers and craftsmen began to translate emotions, characters and settings into shapes, colors and details that today give life to this unique roadster.
The moon as a central element
The visual concept revolves around the young prince's journey from the moon to our planet. For this reason, the bodywork exhibits a combination of copper, bronze and earth tones that evoke the reflections of moonlight on different landscapes.
The finish constantly changes depending on the lighting. Under daylight, warm, bright reflections appear, while as night falls the surfaces take on a deeper, more enveloping appearance.
The iconic horseshoe grille also received specific modifications to better integrate into the vehicle's visual narrative. Everything was designed to transmit movement and continuity.
Details that tell a story
The rear is probably the most striking area of the car. Silver stars are distributed on its surfaces, applied by hand through complex craftsmanship that required countless hours of dedication.
The surprise appears when the airbrake is deployed. There an illustration inspired by the meeting between the prince and the fox is revealed, one of the most remembered scenes in the original story.
Far from being a simple decorative element, this detail turns the car into a kind of three-dimensional story that reveals new chapters as it is explored.
A cabin full of symbolism
The theme continues inside. The coverings combine exclusive tones and multiple references to the celestial universe that inspired the project.
The doors show a representation of the moon made using high-precision embroidery, accompanied by hand-made constellations. The headrests and other decorative elements follow the same conceptual line.
One of the most special details is found on the gear lever. Inside rests a small silver rose created from a three-dimensional scan of a real flower. The piece represents one of the most important symbols associated with the world of “The Little Prince” and provides a unique emotional connection to the vehicle.
The final goodbye to the W16 engine
Beyond its design, this specimen has historical value for the brand. The W16 Mistral is the model responsible for saying goodbye to the legendary W16 engine, a mechanism that defined Bugatti's identity for two decades.
That alone makes each unit a collector's item. However, “Le Retour du Jeune Prince” goes one step further.
