Secretary of Transportation presents his own TV series and causes outrage among some democrats
For seven months, Sean Duffy recorded trips in the company of his family and with this launched a TV series that caused unrest among some Democrats
Sean Duffy, Secretary of Transport, made known that, for seven months, in line with his work as a civil servant, he dedicated himself to g cover several of the trips he took on the road accompanied by his family and from those videos launched a television series.
Accompanied by wife Rachel Campos, the Wisconsin Republican who has the experience of having participated in the past several programs on the MTV television channel, presented “The great American road trip.”
“I wanted to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. Over the course of seven months, we found times when I could work a little, take the kids with me, and do a v road trip. In fact, Rachel and I met on a road trip on a reality show,” he indicated during an interview with the Fox News network.
The 54-year-old lawyer noted that President Donald Trump previously encouraged all members of his team to take some action to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
From this it happened to Duffy to develop a video as a test and after evaluating that it did not involve him neglecting his work in the government, then he chose to continue forward until accumulate the material necessary to put together a TV series.
“Loving the United States is seeing the United States, and there is a lot to see in this beautiful country. We did that as family,” he explained.
A trailer of “The great American road trip” was shared on the official YouTube page of the Department of Transportation.
For more than four minutes, you can see Duffy, along with his wife and daughters, traveling along the road and in various vehicles to different emblematic sites of the nation, which he describes with the goal of knowing its history.
In fact, Donald Trump appears practically giving the start flag to his tour through the country.
The controversial thing is that, upon finding of the television project, some Democrats like Pete Buttigieg, former Secretary of Transportation during the Biden administration, severely criticized it,considering inadequate to the situation that millions of Americans are experiencing as they suffer from the increase in gasoline and its collateral effects since Trump decided to declare war on Iran, triggering an energy crisis of incalculable magnitudes.
“I love road trips, but this is totally foreign to reality. A member of Trump's cabinet making a documentary about himself while families share "They can't afford road trips because Trump and his war have skyrocketed gasoline prices," he wrote on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.
Mark Pokan, representative for Wisconsin, wasn't pleased to see Sean Duffy on his own TV show.
“Apparently, a guy known for making reality TV shows prefers to dedicate his time to making reality TV shows instead to take care of the transportation needs of our country,” he said in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
With the objective of reducing pressure on the Secretary of Transportation, it was indicated that the costs of the “The great American road trip” program were covered by sponsors such as Boeing, Shell, Toyota and Google, among other companies.
