Following its worldwide box office success, it was announced that the film “The Housemaid,” based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Freida McFadden, will have a sequel featuring the return of its protagonist, Sydney Sweeney.

According to the Deadline website, Lionsgate has given the green light to the production of the second installment of the story, which will be titled “The Housemaid's Secret.” And the more than $133 million the film grossed worldwide during its first two weeks is proof enough that audiences are ready to learn more about Millie's story. "The Secret of the Maid is another wildly exciting book in Freida's saga that has captivated readers around the world, and we can't wait to translate it into another exhilarating and unbridled cinematic experience," said Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the Lionsgate film group. In addition to being part of the main cast, Sydney Sweeney will have a very important role in the development of the sequel as one of its producers, as confirmed by the director: "We believed in these stories from the beginning, and we are beyond excited to bring the next chapter of Millie's story to life on screen in collaboration with our creative partners Todd, Paul, Laura, Carly, Alex, and Sydney."
