The woman in the kiss cam scandal At a Coldplay concert, she accuses Gwyneth Paltrow of hypocrisy.
Kristin Cabot, the executive who went viral in the Coldplay 'kiss cam' scandal about, spoke for the first time what happened at the concert
The incident originated in July when Cabot and Astronomer's then-CEO, Andy Byron, were caught on the “kiss cam” during a Coldplay concert. The footage, which showed them embracing and then abruptly separating in discomfort upon seeing themselves on screen, quickly went viral, fueling rumors of an extramarital affair.
Why does she accuse Paltrow of hypocrisy?
If the scandal was painful, the company's response only made it worse. To manage the crisis, Astronomer released a humorous video starring Gwyneth Paltrow, who ironically presented herself as a "temporary spokesperson."
In it, the actress ignored questions about the affair and redirected attention to the company's services.
Cabot, who declared herself an admirer of Paltrow's business venture and Goop—for its focus on empowering women—deeply disapproved of this maneuver.
"And then she did this. I thought, 'How dare she after the beating she took herself over the whole conscious uncoupling thing?' What a hypocrite," Cabot declared, referring to the public scrutiny Paltrow herself faced after her separation from Chris Martin. The term “conscious uncoupling” was popularized by Paltrow herself in 2014 and refers to an amicable separation. It reframs divorce as an opportunity for mutual growth. As a form of protest, the former executive stated that she got rid of all her Goop products, considering that the actress had crossed a line by turning into a joke a situation that “ruined” her professional life.
Regarding the connection with her former boss
Cabot sought to “correct the information” about his relationship with Byron. He categorically assured The New York Times: “I did not have a sexual relationship with Andy,” describing the kiss that night as “the first and only time” anything of the sort occurred.
“I made a bad decision,” he admitted. "I had a couple of drinks and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And that's no small thing. I took responsibility and sacrificed my career for it. That's the price I chose to pay."
He acknowledged feeling attracted to Byron, whom he called a “big, happy crush,” but insisted there was no ongoing extramarital affair. At the time of the concert, she explained, she was already in the process of an “amicable” separation from her second husband, Andrew Cabot, a fact confirmed by her spokesperson. Beyond the loss of her career, Cabot detailed the overwhelming public harassment she endured. She began receiving insults, death threats, and was harassed by paparazzi. The harassment reached everyday extremes: “A stranger told me I didn't deserve to breathe the same air,” she recounted. Her biggest fear that night, she asserted, was embarrassing her then-husband, Andrew: “He's an amazing guy and he didn't deserve that.” Today, Cabot continues her divorce proceedings and says she hasn't seen Byron since September. While she isn't seeking public “forgiveness,” she does yearn for understanding, especially for her children. “I want my children to know that you can make mistakes, even serious mistakes, but you don't deserve to be threatened with death for them,” she concluded.
