FIFA revolutionizes the 2026 World Cup ceremonies: There will be a new experience for players and fans
FIFA presented an innovative pre-match protocol for the 2026 World Cup with giant flags, immersive ceremonies and more
FIFA officially presented the new concept of pre-match ceremonies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a proposal that seeks to strengthen the connection between fans, players and the spectacle within the stadiums of Mexico, the United States and Canada.
World football's governing body confirmed that attendees will live a more immersive and emotional experience thanks to the incorporation of new visual elements, large national flags and staging designed to increase anticipation before the kick-off.
FIFA is committed to an immersive experience at the 2026 World Cup
As part of this renovation, each stadium will be transformed into a shared stage between the teams and their fans. The concept will be inspired by the official album of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will seek to make every spectator, regardless of their location in the stands, an active part of the show.
To achieve this, giant flags of the participating countries and various visual elements strategically placed on the playing field will be displayed to reinforce the identity of each team and generate a unique atmosphere before each match.
This will be the entrance of the players before each game
FIFA reported that the footballers will enter the field accompanied by members of the youth program and will pass through a special arch installed near the locker room tunnel.
In addition, a mosaic will be placed over the central circle, national flags will be distributed and official FIFA graphic elements will be incorporated in different parts of the stadium.
All those summoned will participate during the national anthems
One of the most striking changes will be the prominence that all the players called up for each match will have.
During the performance of the national anthems, not only the starting eleven will be present. The substitutes will also participate, who will form a circle around the banner located in the center of the field with their teammates and the referees.
The objective is for all members of the national teams to share the same moment of pride and national representation on the most important stage in world football.
"As the FIFA World Cup grows, we continue to innovate in the way we experience football," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. "The union of footballers and referees in the center circle during the anthems will generate a moment of brotherhood, pride and emotion for the teams and those attending the match. The players and fans are the protagonists of the World Cup, and this new ceremony clearly reflects this."
There will be more news in the final phases of the tournament
After the interpretation of the national anthems, the traditional procedures prior to the start of each match will be maintained, such as protocol greetings, official photographs of the starting teams and the draw between the captains.
However, FIFA announced that as the competition progresses, new visual resources will be incorporated to increase the impact of the show. These include colored smoke effects and pyrotechnics in certain matches.
The 2026 World Cup seeks to elevate the spectacle on and off the field
With these modifications, FIFA aims to offer a closer, more exciting and participatory experience for the millions of fans who will attend the 2026 World Cup matches, a tournament that will mark a new stage in the presentation of international matches and in the interaction between the teams and their fans.
