Shakira and Burna Boy will present “Dai Dai” at the opening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
The show, which will take place in Mexico City, will feature other stars such as J Balvin and Alejandro Fernández
Seven days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, FIFA confirmed that international stars Shakira and Burna Boy will perform the song “Dai Dai” for the first time during the opening ceremony, which will be held on Thursday, June 11 at the Mexico City Stadium.
Since its premiere, “Dai Dai” became one of the most played songs on YouTube and to date has more than 70 million views on the platform.
In addition, the piece is part of the official album of the tournament and supports the FIFA and Global Citizen Fund for Education, an initiative that seeks to raise $100 million to guarantee access to football and quality education for girls and boys around the world.
Other stars present
The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. (local time), an hour and a half before the opening match. The stadium gates will open four hours early, with interactive experiences and prior entertainment. The show will also feature the participation of other artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
This presentation will mark the beginning of a tournament that will bring together billions of fans around the most popular sport in the world. Mexico is the first country to inaugurate the World Cup, which will be followed by ceremonies in Canada and the United States. More guest artists will be announced in the coming days.
Likewise, Shakira will be one of the main figures of the halftime show of the tournament final, on Sunday, July 19.
The first match of the World Cup will be played between the host, Mexico and South Africa. This will mark the start of the tournament made up of 48 teams and 104 matches, organized by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
