Will Taylor Swift be at the 2025 MTV VMAs
At the awards ceremony taking place this Sunday, September 7, Taylor Swift is nominated in the category of Artist of the Year
Anticipation for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) is growing as the ceremony approaches, scheduled for Sunday, September 7. However, Taylor Swift fans will receive some disappointing news: the superstar will not be attending the event, according to reports from E! News.
Despite being nominated in the prestigious Entertainer of the Year category, the 35-year-old singer has confirmed that she will not be attending the show. This award is her only nomination this year, where she will compete against an elite group that includes Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, and The Weeknd.
Swift's reported absence adds an intriguing suspense to the night, as she and Beyonce are currently tied for the most-awarded artists in VMAs history, with 30 awards each.
In fact, a win for either of them would set an all-time record, breaking the tie and establishing themselves as the all-time winners.
About the 2025 VMAs
This year’s ceremony, which will be hosted by hip-hop legend LL Cool J, will take place at the UBS Arena in New York City.
Viewers can watch the broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, with a simulcast on MTV and streaming available on Paramount+ in the US.
Performing artists include J Balvin, Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren, Conan Gray, Doja Cat, Lady Gaga, Lola Young, and Post Malone.
This year, the evening will be special because they will pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, the musician who passed away on July 22, 2025, in Jordans, United Kingdom.
And as for Taylor Swift, fans are hoping she will arrive, even if it's at the last minute, since her recent performances have been iconic due to her funny attitudes that have gone viral on social media.
