Ajay Maken will be the new treasurer of All India Congress Committee. According to Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, party national president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Maken's appointment. This decision will come into effect with immediate effect.

Maken has been given this responsibility in place of Pawan Kumar Bansal. Ajay Maken is considered a close confidant of Rahul Gandhi. He was not holding any post after resigning from the post of Congress general secretary in-charge of Rajasthan a few months ago.
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement that the party president has appointed Ajay Maken as treasurer of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) with immediate effect. It was also said that the party appreciates the contribution of outgoing treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal. Bansal was appointed interim treasurer after the demise of Ahmed Patel.
