Javier Bardem immortalizes his footprints at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood
The Oscar-winning actor became the first Spaniard to have his hands and feet printed in the emblematic venue in an emotional ceremony
Spanish actor Javier Bardem once again marked a historic milestone in the mecca of cinema. The Oscar winner for “No Country for Old Men” immortalized his footprints in the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
This recognition makes him the first Spanish artist to join a select list of international legends that includes figures of the stature of Marilyn Monroe, Meryl Streep and Harrison Ford, who also marked the cement of the emblematic Los Angeles venue.
Showing off his characteristic sense of humor and a big smile, the interpreter not only captured the marks of his hands and feet, but also joked with the audience by leaving the silhouette of his nose printed on the fresh cement.
“I have left the most important part of my body, but it is not what you think,” he exclaimed with a laugh after signing and drawing a sun.
The most emotional moment of the day came when the actor proudly claimed the legacy of his artistic dynasty and remembered his late mother, actress Pilar Bardem, ensuring that he would not be there without her and that she was the most important person in his formation.
Although his wife, Penélope Cruz, could not attend for professional reasons due to the promotion of her film “The Invite,” Bardem was very well accompanied by his teenage children, Leo and Luna, ages 15 and 12, who proudly followed the event from a discreet background.
