Just before the Shravani Mela, a major accident took place at Abjuganj Ganga Ghat in Sultanganj. Half a dozen people of the same family drowned during a Ganga bath on Friday. There was a stir due to the drowning of 5 people in the Ganges. On getting information about the incident, the SDRF team reached the ghat and started the rescue work. According to the information, so far 3 bodies have been recovered.

The accident happened on Friday at Abjuganj Ganga Ghat of Sultanganj. Six people of the same family drowned during Ganga bath. As soon as the information was received, the SDRF team reached the spot and started searching for the drowned people. Till the filing of this report, three bodies have been recovered. While the search is on for three other drowned people. The search is being done on Ganga Ghat under the leadership of BDO, CO.
It was told that the bodies of Lalita Devi, her daughter Supriya Kumari, Kajal Kumari have been recovered. It was told about the incident that all the women of the house had gone to bathe in the Ganges for the Shradh ceremony. It was told that 15 people were bathing in the Ganges together. Then Lalita Devi started drowning. One by one, everyone entered the river to save them. In order to save everyone, everyone got absorbed in the Ganges.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, other officials including the BDO reached the ghat along with the SDRF team and started the search for the dead bodies. Three bodies were recovered. While the search for two is on. On coming to know about the accident, local people gathered in large numbers at the Ganga Ghat. After the incident, there was a furore among the family members.
