Air Pollution: Due to increasing air pollution in Delhi-NCR, common people are facing health problems. Speaking to the media, Dr Arvind Kumar, Chairman, Medanta Hospital, gave detailed information about pollution and its ill effects. Pollution is dangerous not only for mankind but for every living being on earth. In this situation it is very important to understand the danger of pollution, that too not only in Delhi but in the whole country.

Dr Arvind said that many problems related to eyes are seen in common people. In which apart from burning in the eyes, there is reddening of the eyes, watery eyes and itching in the eyes. Apart from this, problems like dryness of the eyes, burning in the nose and change in the taste of the mouth are also coming to the fore. If you touch the tongue with your hand, then there is a metallic taste as well as complaints of pain and dryness in the throat.

Dr Arvind told that as soon as the smoke goes inside the chest, it causes inflammation in the trachea and lungs. This inflammation is very dangerous. By being absorbed through the lungs, these toxic chemicals reach the blood. All parts of the body are affected by the presence of toxic chemicals in the blood and many diseases spread.

Dr Arvind Kumar said that the patients who are seeing more these days include patients of chest infection and pneumonia. This situation has arisen only because of air pollution. Along with this, long-term effects on the brain of children are also seen due to pollution. Irritability is increasing in children. Cases of neuro inflammation are also increasing due to dangerous chemicals.

Dr Arvind Kumar said that the risk of stroke is increasing continuously in older people due to pollution. In a way, in older people, the risk of stroke due to pollution increases by 10 times. Dr Arvind has given this opinion when the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached the severe category in some areas of Delhi. Today's (AQI) was measured at 354 on Wednesday. Whereas near the airport and the university it stood at 350 and 387 respectively.

The point to be noted here is that the people of Dhanbad and Jharia live in a worse condition than the situation of pollution in Delhi today. Recently, the University of Chicago has revealed in its study that the air pollution caused by PM 10 in Dhanbad was a cause of concern earlier. But, the University of Chicago has said in its study that due to the rapidly increasing level of PM 2.5 in the climate of Dhanbad, human life is at great risk.

In this study it has been said that due to the heavy particles of PM 10 present in the air, vaccines cannot remain in the air for a long time and fall on the ground quickly, whereas the particles of PM 2.5 are much smaller and finer dust particles. Huh. These vaccines can remain in the air for a long time and badly affect the health of people. This is the reason why the level of PM 2.5 in Dhanbad has become a cause for concern.

The average concentration of PM 2.5 in Dhanbad is 65.4 micrograms per cubic meter. This is about 13 times more than the standard set by WHO. In this situation the age of common man is getting reduced by seven years. But this pollution present in Dhanbad does not go unnoticed by the governments. Significantly, in the report of Green Peace India in 2020, Dhanbad and Jharia were described as the most polluted cities in the country. The report claimed that the pollution situation is serious in all the areas where coal is mined, including Dhanbad and Jharia. Some time ago there was a report from the University of Michigan, in which it was said that due to pollution, many types of problems are seen in women. The main ones are their obesity, irregularity in periods and trouble in pregnancy.
