Another flight carrying 246 Indians from Sudan reached Mumbai under Operation Kaveri. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar informed about this. Earlier, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said on Thursday that the situation in Sudan remains very complex and unpredictable. Meanwhile, India aims at getting every Indian trapped in that country out of danger. Giving details on 'Operation Kaveri', Kwatra said that around 1,700 to 2,000 Indian citizens have been evacuated from the conflict zones.
The Foreign Secretary said that India is in touch with Sudan and the two warring factions. We have been able to evacuate our citizens after positive feedback from the concerned parties, as they understand that New Delhi shares a very strong development partnership with Khartoum. He said that we are in touch with both the SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces) and the RSF (Rapid Support Force). We have had good relations. We are in touch with all parties to take the Indians to safer areas and then to Port Sudan.
About the total number of Indians in Sudan, he said around 3,100 have registered online with the Indian embassy in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, while an additional 300 are in touch with the mission. There are also about 900 to 1,000 PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) in Sudan.

The distance between Khartoum and Port Sudan is approximately 850 kilometers. Travel time by bus varies from 12 to 18 hours. In view of the current situation, the Indian Navy has deployed its warships INS Sumedha, INS Teg and INS Tarkash, while the Indian Air Force has also deployed its two C130J transport aircraft. Ships and aircraft are being used to take the Indians to Jeddah, from where they are being brought to India.

Kwatra said that around 600 Indian nationals have either arrived in India or are on their way. 360 Indians reached New Delhi by chartered flight from Jeddah last night. We currently have 495 Indian nationals in Jeddah. There are 320 Indians in Port Sudan. We have more buses to bring more people to Port Sudan. The Foreign Secretary also said that 42 Indian nationals have migrated to South Sudan.
